What do I do on my first day of filming is a question I asked myself on the set of my first film. It is ok all true filmmakers ask that same question.
First thing first…
So you have your actors, your crew, and you are ready to roll. In the words of the great film, H
So really?
Problems are just opportunities to see how good you truly are in your craft. Until you can pay the actors and crew what they are worth you are subject to life and all the things that come with it. All you can do is buckle up and enjoy the ride. Make sure everything you can do to make the day go smoothly you do. Provide food, and if you are lucky like me to be married to a food blogger. www.myforkinglife.com enlist their help. If not just pick up some chicken or snacks and get what you need on film and finish up your day like you started it. With positive vibes.
Honesty is the best policy
If you are running behind. Tell your cast and crew. The worst thing you can do to someone is waste their time. But the second worst thing is not telling them why you are. For example if your DP is 2 hours late and the main star for your production is ready to film tell them the issue. Don’t tell one person make an announcement that things are happening and for them to practice so when you as the director figure out the next move. Do it. Be a leader.
Peace Love and happiness with all the good stuff in between.
If you find yourself with questions drop a comment and I will surely get back to you.
